'This Is Me' Poster

Annotations - Full Participation

Description

One of the first lessons that I planned and implemented while on placement was aimed at build relationships with my students. In the lesson students created a poster on their iPads about themselves. They included information about their hobbies and interests and well as how they learned best. I also created one of the posters so my students could get to know me.

Personal Philosophy

I strive to build strong positive relationships with my students as it allows me to build a culture of respect in the learning environment and use my students’ interests to encourage engagement in learning. Also by knowing my students I am more equipped to be able to differentiate learning for their learning needs.

Other Theory

By building rapport with students you are able to connect and reach them on a deeper level, opening the door for successful student learning (Higgs, 2014) When we build strong positive relationships with our students we are able to develop better understand with how individuals learn enabling us to target learning towards our students’ needs (Bernstein-Yamashiro, 2013)
